I got to thinking yesterday ...I know you can smell the smoke right?..lol I was talking to my mother about a squash soup when she mentioned her friend making a very good homemade tomato soup. That is what got me thinking ...it is very odd to me how some people, like me, LOVE tomatoes yet I can not stand the soup .I have tried it over a course of years to see if my taste has changed and no go .It is kind of funny how deep in thought I was over food ...I must have been pretty hungry .I thought about how on average I eat a tomato about 5 days a week .I eat them on EVERYTHING just about .If I can not actually put them on something I eat them like an apple.Yet I can not stand the soup ..I have known ( well I still do ) people who HATE tomatoes but love ketchup and pasta with tomato based sauce .I find that very odd as well ..lol Thinks that make you go hmmmmmmm I guess ..lol
I also thought ( as I ate some artichoke hearts) about some foods that I love that gags my family members just thinking about it ..lol
Mine would be :
spinach
artichoke hearts
avocado( I eat this just about as much as I do tomatoes)
brussel sprouts
What food does your family or friends think you are totally nasty for loving?

The one food that makes my family squeamish, that I just love is escargot. Done it drawn butter and garlic sauce. Spinach would be on that list too.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE tomato soup, but served only with grilled cheddar cheese sandwiches. (Mmmmm, comfort food)
;-)3T
I guess tha would depend on who I am sitting next to at the table that night. My youngest often says that the food I eat smells...lol!
ReplyDeleteI love just about everything. BUt I think the one thing that they all don't like is mushrooms.
i love tomatos too but hate tomato sicks. blech. ick.
ReplyDeletetomato, sharp cheddar and toasted bread with mayo is soooo good.
and who could ate avocados? how dare they? lol
They are soooo good and good for you and for your skin. :o)
I'm a pretty boring eater so I don't think there is anything that anyone thinks is strange.
ReplyDeleteI will say however that I loooooove Watermelons but I hate anything flavored Watermelon.
That last one was me I hate using my blogger identity.

my 4 yr old loves spinach and broccoli with garlic and olive oil-- and pelligrino--- her friends arent fond of that dish! but me?? hmmmmm ..and none of my girlfriends like sushi-- i only like spicy tuna--but they all think BARF!
ReplyDeleteWell...I love the soup and don't like plain tomatoes. Sounds normal to me! :) Thanks for stopping by! Your blog is absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteI too love escargot with garlic butter, just like 3T. And btw, I came from her site. She is one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI don't think any of my friends or relatives would think what I ate to be nasty. We all eat alot of raw fish and other things that would probably turn some of your stomachs. Like raw liver, opihi, etc. I'm from Hawaii, so we eat alot of things that would be wierd or nasty to others. :)
You have a nice site, I enjoyed my visit, thank you. I'll be back again.
I love all of yours minus the brussel sprouts. Hmmmm...maybe tuna casserole. I love it but no one else here does ;-)
ReplyDeletenothing really. My husband, on the other hand, eats these little sardine type fish, called Sprats.
ReplyDeleteOH MY LORD. They reek! I can tell, just by opening the door to enter my house, that he has eaten them. He could have already taken the trash out containing the can....but I can still smell the gross things. ugh
Hello Michele sent me!
Hello from Michele's!
ReplyDeleteActually, I'm the pickiest eater of the lot. Most of the food they eat disturbs me :)
I have a friend who is addicted to ketchup and bloody marys but cannot stand tomatoes. It's really strange! I like the tomatoes, but not tomato juice. Hmmm.....
ReplyDeleteHere via Michele's. Cute blog. Wish I could add design like that to mine someday....
There's nothing I like that they don't like. However, they eat lots of stuff I won't touch. BLEAH!
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me!
Cheese grits!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love your blog. Mind if I link you on mine?
feel free to blogroll me :)
ReplyDeletei love fish, especially salmon, now try and picture the look of horror on my kids face when i tell them what we're having for dinner!!!
ReplyDeletei also love tomatoes, i'm ok with soup, i love juice, i love vodka, but i hate, absolutely hate, a bloody mary.
BLECH!! Veggies. Give me my stinky canned goodness anyday!! Course I AM a cat.....Here from Michele's.
ReplyDeleteHello, Michele sent me this evening.
ReplyDeleteI'm the only one in my house who loves grits or black-eyed peas. On New Year's Eve I insist that everyone must eat at least one pea for luck, though.
Oops, make that on New Year's DAY, duh.
ReplyDeleteI had to giggle over your post. I also love tomatoes. My favorite is to slice them up and eat with a little salt. Yummy! Or with cottage cheese. Yeah! But, give me a bowl of tomato soup and I gag. Tomato soup is about the most gross soup I have tasted. It leaves a icky after-taste or something. People think I am nuts because I love tomatoes so much. I am glad I have found a kindred tomato spirit!
ReplyDeleteI don't eat anything the rest of the family thinks is weird but they all eat stinky blue cheese which is just digusting. I guess I could try eating it seeing as I am so fat and all :)
ReplyDeleteI asked a very similar question over at my place last week. I love beets--only if they are cold and pickled or covered in vinegar. I hate them cooked. In general, people are not without opinions on beets--they either love them or hate them!
