Now ,as much as I like watching this show. I really truly do not understand why these women agree to do it. I mean I know some feel unappreciated and want their husbands to realize how much they do around the house. Some think they can enlighten others with their whacked out lifestyle. The thing that I do not get is this. If you are having problems in your marriage or with your kids or whatever...Do you really think that going to live with complete strangers for two weeks is going to help? I mean everyone has their own way of living. Their own routine or lack there of. I would NOT want to swap lives with anyone I know. I do not know if maybe it is because of the fact that I love my husband very much. I enjoy spending time with him and enjoy our life together that makes me think " no way would I do that". Maybe it is the relationship I have with God that makes me sincerely grateful for what I have and I do not think the grass is greener on the other side. If the grass IS greener on the other side...I don't care ..lol I would rather keep my less green grass right where I am. I mean I am still a newlywed really. We were married Nov.11,2004 and I realize that marriage takes work and compromise and it is not all a bowl of cherries everyday. Guppy and I do not fight. We do disagree about certain things ,but we usually agree to disagree. We love being together and never get tired of it. We actually really miss each other so much when we have to go to work ..lol I think this fact drives my MIL crazy sometimes..lol There have been times when she has wanted to take me somewhere that Guppy refuses to go ( like the Nutcracker) but I have no desire to spend a night without him. Or to experience anything new without him. Now as sappy as it all sounds we do have very different views on some things. Like, I ...left to my own devices would clean constantly or at least until things were like I thought they should be. Guppy on the other hand ..welll....lol as much as he waits on me hand and foot while I am sick and sometimes when I am not ( he really is a very attentive husband) ...would let the house pile to the roof with dirty dishes, trash and what not. I have never understood this about him.(Except the laundry,we both suck at keeping up with this one)...lol He is not a lazy person by far. He is always doing something. He loves his little projects, but unless I specifically ask him or unless I ,myself ,am cleaning... he just won't. He cleans great if I am too...But as far as taking initiative to do so ...it's not happening..lol You know what though ...There still is NO way that I would trade him or want to live with some strange guy with his kids for two weeks or even a day...
I really am curious as to what you all think about that ...
Would you swap lives with someone that you have no idea about for two weeks?

LMAO ....Did my post make you sound like a bad guy to you ?
ReplyDelete*The opinions expressed in the post above do not necessarily make guppy a bad guy.... he just doesn't notice the mess quite as much as Stormii does....
ReplyDeletehey girl! thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeletei'm right there with you on wanting to just stay with the life i have. NO way would i trade either. i'm convinced if people would invest all their time and energy into what they have already been given (as opposed to spending it elsewhere), then the grass would be just as green as it appears on the other side. just my thinking, i reckon.
really enjoyed your place here and i will be back again real soon.
blessings!

No...I thought it made him sound pretty wonderful. As I was reading, I'm thinking..."I could have written this post." Then I got to the part about cleaning and that messed things up right there. I've got a great husband...but he notices the mess...to the point of driving me crazy. We've watched these shows and my family always tells me that they'd never give me up for a week for someone else to take my place. I feel the exact same way. By the way, when does this show come on...I always miss it?
ReplyDeleteOh, and I can't wait for American Idol tonight! I'm going to try to blog it live tonight!
Great blog,
ReplyDeleteYour design is outstanding!
God Bless,
Doug
I wouldn't ever do it... I wouldn't ever consider it. I never watched the show - it just doesn't even sound appealing to watch. LOL
ReplyDeletei don't think i would do it, i'm very content with my hubby and our lifestyle. however, some people will do anything to make it to tv for that 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI have never understood the mindset of these wife-swappers. Or the show with the nanny or even Clean Sweep where they come organize your pigsty for you. Who needs 15 minutes of fame that badly?
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I wouldn;t swap. Mine is a keeper.
Thank you by the way for allowing me to rent your blog..
ReplyDeleteI would like to swap lives for a couple weeks but only for fun.. I would like to do it but I'm too much of a cry baby and I'd probably cry the whole time I was away from my pets and hubby.. haha
-hugs-
I don't think I would want to do that, but more importantly , I wouldn't want someone to came into my home with my family & try to take my spot!!
ReplyDeleteI guess I am kind of territorial!! Call me "Mother Bear"!:)
what a whacky show. lol
ReplyDeleteIt's all relative, Stormii. How would you like to deal with the Professor's idea of "neat"?
ReplyDeleteNo way would I want to 'swap' my hubby with anyone else. Although married for almost 23 years, some rough times here and there, he is best gift I have received from God (besides my salvation)! Although I disagree with him on certain things, he is the love of my life. I too miss him during the day while I am at work, so I send him a couple emails during the day...:)
ReplyDeleteI think you have it right, Stormii - the grass is not greener on the other side.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts - an awesome post...
no way could I ever live in someone elses house. Some of those people are so off!
ReplyDeleteOh - your doctors appointment is tomorrow? I'll keep you in my prayers...Thanks Texas_ivy10 for the reminder...
ReplyDeleteI would not swap. But I love that show.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't swap either. For any reason. My husband and I have been married for 11 years, and like you, we don't fight, we agree to disagree. I'm finding out that with age, comes a sense of tolerance. I too am more sensitive to cleanliness than dear husband. But he will make attempts to help without question, and I'm beginning to mellow on my critical comments of what is messy.
