Why I detest Halloween ....

I have went back and forth with whether or not I should post my view on Halloween or not.I came to the conclusion that it is my blog so why not .What better way to see if anyone out there shares my same views.I am well aware that a lot of people do not so it will be interesting to maybe find someone that does.As for me and my house , we do not celebrate Halloween.I choose not to for spiritual reasons ,you notice I did not say religious reasons ...I believe everyone has their own relationship with God or not and everyone is at different places in that relationship.I do not believe in a "religion" dictating rules and such.I believe we all have to answer to God in the end and we should all do what we as individuals feel is right for us.I use to love Halloween. That was my mothers favorite holiday as well .We always had the coolest parties .Our house was THE place to go every year.We would build haunted houses in the backyard or garage. We would bob for apples all the typical Halloween things that people do.As I got older and closer to God I just did not feel good about celebrating a holiday that so clearly does not glorify God in any way.Nothing about Halloween glorifies God.No one decorates for halloween with cute angels and doves. No, it is witches, bats, monsters and devils.Satan loves this holiday ..It is his time.Christians are to "... have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather rebuke them." [Ephesians 5:11]
I have a friend that I have known for years that is wiccan...He also tells me this is thier day of celebration."Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." [Romans 12:2]."For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial?" [2 Corinthians 6:14, 15].I understand that most people celebrate Halloween and see absolutely nothing wrong with it.They see it as a holiday that the kids dress up cute and go get lots of candy.Us as Christians need to dig a little deeper and not be so accepting of such an evil holiday is my belief.I can not see any reason to celebrate a holiday that glorifies things that are detestable to the Lord. Not even for a day .What does that teach your children as Christians? That you should surround yourself with what is good and pure and holy except on one day, then you can surround yourself with evil and darkness? Why invite the spirit of fear to your child on purpose? That can carry on to many other things in life. The sort of practices celebrated on Halloween are what defiled the ancient nations [see Leviticus 18:24-30]. The Israelites were warned against such practices when they entered the Promised Land, "When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations." [Deuteronomy 18:9]

Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so. [Deuteronomy 18:10-14]

This guy said it best when he said: " It does not have even one single redeeming virtue. It is custom born out of pagan superstition. It is a demon-inspired, devil-glorifying, occult festival. It is an evening holy unto evil, death, and divination. The Scriptures tells us to "Abstain from all appearance of evil." [1Thess. 5:22]
That is pretty much the gist of it for me.I detest Halloween ,I really do .I did not post this to be preachy or judgemental but to express my view.If it helps one preson realize the evils of Halloween then that is great. For all of you that are choosing to participate in Halloween then I pray that you have a very happy and safe one:)

Who are YOU people ?????!!!!!!!!!!

Who are you people that refuse to easily merge into the right lane when the sign CLEARLY states that the left lane will be ending very soon .Who are you people that see that sign and get over into the very lane that is about to close ,just to drive all the way up and get stopped because you NOW need to merge because there is no lane now left?Who are you people that do not realize that by doing so you slow down or totally stop traffic?Who are you people that are in such a hurry to get nowhere ?Who are you people that pass people and weave in and out of traffic just to get stopped at all the same red lights that I do ?Who are you people ,and why do you continue to do these things?

A chilly Saturday afternoon ....

Well it is Saturday, normally I would be thrilled but this week it marks an almost ending to my wonderful vacation :( .I am trying to stay positive and enjoy myself until I have to go back on Tuesday ...It just seems to have gone so fast.Isn't that the way it usually works out?

Today we are headed to a Peddlers Show in Rosenberg ,Texas.I have never been to one but apperantly it is pretty huge judging from the site.
There was a very, very small craft show here locally last weekend .When I say small I mean like maybe 8 different booths kind of small ..lol There was this guy that did pencil drawings that have hidden items in his pieces along with hidden scriptures. They are very very cool .I bought my parents and brother/SIL one and had him customize them by writting their names into the drawing .I thought it to be a very unique and special gift for Christmas ...
I talk to my mom constantly and tell her everything ...well I could not wait to tell her what I had bought ( leaving out the fact that I bought her one of course ) and she thought it to be so cool that she asked if I would pick her up three for gifts to some hard to buy for friends and family .The only downfall to this is she will know how much was spent ..lol Oh well ,I am sure she will love hers. The guy that does them is super nice ...he left us his home and cell number. Guppy called and found out that he will be at this place in Rosenburg this weekend so we figured it would be a good chance to get out of town and to visit a huge craft show ( we love em ) .

That is what we have planned for this chilly October day ...what are your Saturday plans?

Hmmmmmmmmmm?

I got to thinking yesterday ...I know you can smell the smoke right?..lol I was talking to my mother about a squash soup when she mentioned her friend making a very good homemade tomato soup. That is what got me thinking ...it is very odd to me how some people, like me, LOVE tomatoes yet I can not stand the soup .I have tried it over a course of years to see if my taste has changed and no go .It is kind of funny how deep in thought I was over food ...I must have been pretty hungry .I thought about how on average I eat a tomato about 5 days a week .I eat them on EVERYTHING just about .If I can not actually put them on something I eat them like an apple.Yet I can not stand the soup ..I have known ( well I still do ) people who HATE tomatoes but love ketchup and pasta with tomato based sauce .I find that very odd as well ..lol Thinks that make you go hmmmmmmm I guess ..lol

I also thought ( as I ate some artichoke hearts) about some foods that I love that gags my family members just thinking about it ..lol

Mine would be :

spinach
artichoke hearts
avocado( I eat this just about as much as I do tomatoes)
brussel sprouts

What food does your family or friends think you are totally nasty for loving?

Well I got the scrapbooking bug again ..It comes and goes ..Well I shouldn't say it goes really .I love to do it all the time but there are times when I fall into an uncreative funk I guess ..Kind of like writers block I suppose. We recently went to Ky as most of you know, and I was able to snag a bunch of pics from my moms pc of my niece and nephew .I have been wanting to start a book for each of them for some time now and I finally have enough pics to get started .We were also able to take some of our own which is always cool .I love scrapping because when I am out and see a layout op I am like ..."quick grab the camera,I am so going to scrap that" ..lol That is what I did with the four pictures above.....They were all taken by me ( pats myself on the back ) I am rather proud of them actually ,because Guppy is usually the photo genious around here .We were unable to scan the layouts in to the computer because they are the large ones so Gup had to snap pics of them ...I hope you are able to see the detail from the pic ,of the embelishments I used ...simple layouts like this are very new to me .When I first started scrappin I would try and get as many pics on a page as possible .I may scan those in one day to show you .Anyway, the first one ( blue and brown ) is of my nephew Caden .Our evacuation trip to Kentucky was our first time getting to meet him in person,I was so excited.the second one of the lil bathing beauties is Caden on the left and his sister Chloe on the right .I love the one with the towel on her head ...I took that right after giving her a bath in the sink at my moms.I swear she looks like she could do a baby shampoo commercial or something .Then again I could just be a very proud aunt ..lol
Are there any fellow scrapbookers that have any advice or tips for me?

Hey wow... A new post!!!!

Oh wait... it's just guppyman here telling us to be patient....

Stormii has been working hard, watching baseball and trying to figure out what to do about the bathroom issue..... (We were going to find a border, but it looks like we may use molding instead.)

It's funny how into baseball she has gotten recently... she hated it before... But she sat down to watch game two of this series between the Astros and Cardinals... and she has been hooked ever since!

Hope everybody is having fun... she will be back on soon when she gets some time...

I'll let her know ya'll care!

Warm welcome and border problems

I wasn't going to post until I had time to post more on the evacuation. We have been busy busy remodeling the bathroom.I finally figured what the heck I can post a little and then get back to that story later .I mean I am not bound by any rules seeing as it is my blog right?..right !! So I thought I would take a minute to welcome my MIL to the blog world and ask if you all would go over and welcome her also :)We are finally decorating the main bathroom around the previously mentioned shower curtain. We have run into a situation though .When we took down the previous owners wall paper border the glue must have been old because it is cracking the paint .I have never had this happen before. It is leaving us no option but to also put up border .Ok , Neither of us have ever dealt with wall paper and second of all it has been a task trying to find one we really, really like ( this stuff isn't cheap )and we don't want to just "settle" for any ol thing ,ya know?We found one that goes with the shower curtain perfectly .It even looks like it was made just for it but the funny thing is we don't really like the border ..lol Which is very odd since we like the shower curtain so much. Anyway I went off on a slight tangent there ...I just thought I would give ya'll an update for those of you wondering where I have been.Wish us luck with this wall paper border hunt. UGGHHH!!!..lol

Rita Evacuation Part 2

So we have all the stuff we can possibly take packed into our little Saturn.Ourselves in the front with Gizmo in my lap.Lil one and Daizii in the back seat and off we go .Well I use the word go very lightly here ..lol We started our very long journey out of the hurricanes path .At first we were like.. "ok here we go" and we were in a great mood .We put in our praise cd that we had made of bunch of our favorites and started singing along and praising God that we were going to be able to get out safe.Well we ran into traffic pretty much straight away in Kemah on the bridge .We kept thinking up a ways it will let up once there were places to turn off in different directions .WELLLLL,little did we know until we turned the local radio station on that they were closing pretty much every exit and only letting people go straight .ARGGGGGG..Thus starting our 27 hour journey to his dads house.I remember us saying ok ...this has got to let up soon. After hours and hours of stop-go traffic it was becoming very apperent that it was NOT going to let up anytime soon .It was so surreal.Night fell and nothing had gotten any better .It got to the point that you started to get to know your new neighbors ..The people that had traveled next to you for hours upon hours.People were getting out and talking to each other.Helping each other stay awake.People were napping between times to move up and people would either honk to wake them or knock on their window to wake them up.People were walking around outside their cars ..passing water and food down to different cars ..Walking their dogs and using the restroom on the side of the road.I remember us getting to a gas station sometime late in the night /early the next morning and of course there was no gas to be found but everyone was stopping to go potty and get drinks, food and stretch .Thank God women are so prepared, because no bathroom we stopped at during the trip had toilet paper, but there was always a woman that had packed some and passed it around to all of us to use.
We were flipping back and forth from the AM talk radio station we listen to and the local Christian station that we also listen to and what I thought was so funny was how they kept telling all the callers calling in ..talking about how they had been in traffic fir such and such hours to just be patient ...Although that was all you really could do is be patient it wasn't very comforting having someone that is sitting in a studio all nice and comfy ..telling you to be patient ..

The Christian radio station was great though ..The dj would say prayers for all of us .People in the same traffic were calling in encouraging all of us to trust God ..to stay awake and that we would all make it out .It was great to hear others encouraging that were going through it themselves .The only thing we wished would have been different, is the fact that everyone was getting so tired and dozing off and the station was playing very mellow slow music .We really needed them to crank it up a bunch of notches.

You Bless Me

It has been awhile since I've blogged. Does anyone still blog anymore? I used to blog daily and look forward to visiting all my blog fri...
